A day of racing in Edinburgh on Saturday 1st March 2025
This was the first year for us and a different racing format and skiffs and oars we were not used to. Each crew was made up of a mix of rowers and coxes from all the participating clubs. There were 6 skiffs, all provided locally, and 6 races. Each race was a 750m sprint between the Forth Bridge and the old Forth Road Bridge. The first 3 skiffs in each race won gold, silver and bronze, respectively.

The crews launched either from the marina slipway or from a pontoon. The row to the start line was round the breakwater and under the road bridge. Our team was Dean & Alison, Roger, Marian, Rachel B, Rob, Alan, Gill, David C, Jen and Mike. Our medals: gold- Roger and Mike; silver- David C (2) and Marian; bronze- Alan (2), Dean and Rob. David C and Alan won medals as rowers and coxes.
It was a well- run event and worth the drive, despite the cold grey day. It did stay dry and brightened up for a beautiful late afternoon. We got back to Alnwick about 6.30 pm, at least with no Enflaeda to return to the boathouse and wash down!
