We are ready to race!
Alnmouth Community Rowing Club is sending a strong racing squad to the 2025 Skiffie World Championships, to be held on Loch Ryan, Stranraer from 6th to 13th July.

The racing crews are mixed, women’s and men’s in various age categories. They have been training hard since January. Personal fitness has been worked on by each individual along with lots of practice sessions in the boat, aiming to achieve perfect rowing style and synchronisation. The hours training have also improved the strength and endurance of the crew members. Each race is 2 km, a speedy start, a tight turn round a buoy midway followed by a sprint finish with lots of hard work in between. There will be lots of unknowns along the way, clashes of oars, shouting umpires, choppy waves and ocean swell. Every time it’s different.
At the Festival there will be 2,000 competitors, 79 clubs. There are even international teams from Australia, South Africa and Canada. We will there in the mix, representing Alnmouth and proudly waving the Northumberland flag. We are ready and eager. The ultimate test awaits. Wish us luck, and we’ll let you know how we get on.
