Fishing Trips

Some members have express a interest in going fishing in the spring and summer.

Recreational sea angling is a selective, environmentally friendly and low-impact fishing activity, and is the primary coastal recreation activity  and is of great social  importance.

This would involve rowing about a half a mile off Almouth and setting off line while the boat is drifting (controlled drifting). Such trip would normally last for 2 hours during which time, Fishing activity would be breaking up by lunch and enjoying the sea.

The fish caught can be retain and possibly shared although we would need to respect legal sizes as specified by defra.

The type of fishing usually caught in inshore water are; Ling, Pollock, Cod, Mackerel, Haddock, Turbot, Bass and Dogfish. This list is, of course, not limited to those species, Conger eels, herring and coalfish are a very common occurence.

The Fishing tackle will be provided although you are welcome to bring your own.

For those who would wish to use bait such as ragworms, lungworm and peeler crab, They would be ask to bring it with them. Such can be purchase from local shop or collected (within reason) from local mark such as Boulmer at low tide.

If this would be of interest to you please leave a comment and a show of interest so we could start organising this.

Kind Regards
